Bellingham Dojo History

Share
The Bellingham Shotokan Karate Club began on Novemeber 1, 2005 when Eric Henry was approached by a friend interested in having her son learn martial arts.  The practice was held in Eric Henry's backyard.  As the weather turned colder and wetter, it became necessary to find a place indoors to practice.  The first dojo space was in the basement of Zervas Architects on Prospect Street in Bellingham.  After a few years, the dojo moved to Beyond Limits Yoga until they sold the business and the dojo found its current home at the Northwest Park and Recreation District 2 Birch Bay Activity Center.  The dojo name was changed from Bellingham Shotokan to Birch Bay Shotokan in May 2014. Now the dojo is Bellingham Shotokan in 2021.
